Hi, I’ve been invited to an EY virtual assessment centre soon and I was wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks who have been through this process before.

Hi, I’ve been invited to an EY virtual assessment centre soon and I was wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks who have been through this process before.

I've been throught it this year for summer internship and got the offer so here's a few tips

There will be 2 sections a group task and the assessed math and english section. In my assessment centre for the group task, there was multiple scenarios and in a group of 5 we had been assigned a specific proposition that a business is considering to take and discuss with the other members which is better. They then introduced a change/twist and we had to reconsider what to think and which proposition to go with. In this section be vocal about which opportunities you believe are the best/worst and don't be afraid to say the one you was given isn't the best (if it isn't). Also remember that the people you are working with in here shouldn't be seen as competitiors (even though they technically are) ,the assessment team are likely looking for how well you work with others so make sure your engaging with your team to achieve the best result for the company essentially.

For the maths and english section , the maths part they sent the sheet of data the day prior so I wrote about a page worth of equations that would likely come up for this and it did help out for this section (the question sheet is released on your time slot of this section). There was a decision making section which is quite small but for this just go with what you believe is the best for it. And the last part of it is an email to another (can't remember if it was a colleague or person outside of the company) but you will be given information and to write an email to them, for this section I used ai to help generate some ideas.

Btw it's also random if you do either the group work or individual work since for me there was multiple groups split across them.

Lmk if u have any questions

One question that came to mind is do you reckon for my experience day I will have to do maths and English tests, as part of the initial online assessments involved numerical reasoning and verbal reasoning tests. I know a summer internship application process may look slightly different from an apprenticeship application process, but for your initial online assessment did you have to do numerical and verbal reasoning tests and then do these sort of tests again at the assessment centre? Or just fill in your details for the application
I'd imagine they're pretty similar as there isn't much else to test you on. The maths section should be quite similar to previous applications you've applied for whereas the written section was quite different as it was a mock scenario as if you was working for a company so I used Chatgpt to help for this. You should also keep an eye on your emails/amber track in the days before you booked your AC since they'll likely send out a brief for the day or some useful material which can help you prepare.

Additionally for my AC there was multiple people that applied for different roles and location so it's likely that the application process will be similar across all apprenticeships.

I'd suggest going on linkedin and finding apprentices at EY or people that went through the EY apprenticeship route and asked what was assessed and how they did well.

Another tip I'd say is to try settle in well and don't let nerves get to you since there was not interview for my AC I found it much easier.

Lmk if you have any other questions

For the Experience Day you only do Group Exercise and a Written Exercise for School Leavers Audit(for me) which are the 2 assessed activities alongside a non assesed Q&A
