Struggling with A-level Physics

I'm in the trenches right now, physics is absolutely obliterating me😭 Does anyone have any advice, especially regarding the waves topic, and also how to get better at problem solving? I feel like I have only made very little progress since the start of the year, and I need to improve before the mocks in the summer. We're just flying through content, and I can't really find any good videos on youtube. Any textbook recommendations? Any advice would be deeply appreciated🙏🙏

You in year 12? I wouldn't worry, at this point in year 12 I sucked at physics (like I was bad). My only really advice and only thing that helped me improve was to keep on doing exam questions (like on pmt, revisely and sites like that). I know it can be difficult to motivate yourself when your struggling but I promise it will pay off. In terms of videos, Physics Online makes really good content although the site that has really in year 13 is UpLearn (My school got it for us but is quite expensive to buy yourself. If you can afford it though I would definitely go for it.) CGP's student textbook for physics is really good and explains things quite concisely.

Hope that helps a little. I promise it does begin to make sense if you keep at it 🙂

Thank you! I think I was just really overwhelmed when I wrote that and that’s why it’s a tad melodramatic. I’m gonna start doing exam questions regularly now, and see how that helps. Thanks for also mentioning Uplearn, I’ve seen a lot of ads for it but wasn’t sure if it was worth it. I’ll definitely check that out as well👍

Science shorts is really good in terms of explaining concepts. I’d advise that you complete the questions in the textbook (i.e. summary questions and end-of-chapter questions) before you move onto exam questions. These questions mainly focus on drilling the concepts into your head which I find very useful. Also, if you do run out ppqs for any topic you should check out umutech, they have a wide range of old spec + new spec questions. Good luck.

Physics Online and Z Physics are great YT channels! My revision method for the hellscape that is AQA physics is:

1.

Watch a YT video about it

2.

Seneca and make flashcards as I go through the content

3.

PMT flashcards and make more flashcards

4.

Comb through the spec to see if there's any part of the chapter that I've missed

5.

PMT topic questions on repeat

6.

Isaac physics Qs on that topic (for the calculations side)

7.

More PMT topic exam-style Qs

It takes so long to wrap your head around the content! For me it only just about started clicking into place in December of Y13. I don't think I understood a single word in Y12 waves and electricity. Good luck!!
