Imperial interview

I applied for two imperial courses: Materials Science with Engineering & Materials with Nuclear Engineering. I was rejected from the first one a couple days ago, and I am now waiting for a reply on the second.

However, I received an email today from the Department of Materials, inviting me for an interview day. The odd thing about this is that it appears to be an interview for the course I was rejected from? Both courses are in the same department, but I'm wondering if this is a mistake 😕 Any ideas/any imperial applicants in a similar situation?

Hi, I applied to Material science at Imperial as well. The 2 courses you applied to share the same 1st year content, maybe they rejected you from on of them bc they are effectively the same thing and they don't want one applicant to take up 2 places? Good luck with your interview! (they are really nice about it!)
