independent further maths gcse

hii i'm in year 11 and my teacher suggested i do aqa gcse further maths since all my gcse mocks in higher maths r 9s. it was january so i was worried it was too late but i like maths so i thought why not give it a try. what i didnt expect was basically 0 support from my school. i have been going through the curriculum through videos and worksheets but it's been disrupted obviously by mocks and so on. so far i have covered all of matrices and i'm finishing up differentiation (literally in the middle of the area and perimeter stuff), and i was wondering on any advice, or if you know, how much do i have left to cover bc i know a lot of it is higher gcse knowledge so i want to first cover everything i don't know. thank youuu

hey! I'm also doing AQA FM but at my school we had after school lessons every other week. my teacher says that it is mostly normal GCSE content but worded in odd ways (as we do Edexcel for normal maths). most of the paper is algebra but the grade 9 style types with lots of other skills together

Some things I can think of that arent on regular maths:
- binomial expansion
- polynomial division
- trig identities
- circle equations when the centre isn't 0

some resources I recommend
- AQA resources
- 1st class maths 5 a day and topic workbooks (most if not all FM topics are there with videos)
- Corbett maths has some too

can't really think of anything else now but I think it's really good to take FM as the exam is one of the last (can warm up with regular maths) and the content isn't too awful (most people in my class get 8s in GCSE and then around 7s in FM without too much stress). lmk if you have any questions (I'm predicted a 9 in GCSE and an 8 in FM)

hii omg thank u smmm. honestly i've js been using 1st class maths videos bc they're pretty straightforward and have follow uo exam questions, but it's really difficult knowing how i'm doing because my teacher is leaving everything to me and i literally have to chase him up for support which imo is ridiculous as he offered this opportunity so late into the year. but yh sorry for that rant, anyway, i've done polynomial division, but i'll need to do the rest on that list. i'm js so stressed on forgetting stuff bc it's so hard trying to review what i've already learnt then learning new stuff then revising for 8 other gces and coursework etc. but hoping for the best

also where do u get the 5 a day from?
tysmm 🫶🏼

Hey, I’m doing maths at uni, and I did both A level further maths and GCSE Additional Maths (which I think is like GCSE FM, it was graded in letters, and we did differentiation, integration etc), so if you have any questions about the maths itself, or you get stuck on a practice question, I can help. 🤗
