'Best' University for veterinary medicine/science

Hiya, i'm in lower sixth and really getting into veterinary medicine. I've tried to do a bit of research on universities that offer the course, and I've landed specifically on Edinburgh, Nottingham, Bristol, Glasgow and Liverpool. A bit about me: I learn very well with hands-on practical work so I would rather go to a uni with a course that isn't super theoretical (if that makes sense), and I play lots of netball and music. With that in mind, I was just wondering if there are any 'advantages' or differences in the courses some of these unis have to offer. Any students at these unis, id rly love to learn a bit more in-depth about the courses and your input would be greatly appreciated xx

If you are a UK student it is a risk applying for the Scottish universities as they have fewer places for UK students.
It is often a 2 year process applying for vet med as only 13% of applicants get in so the “best” vet school is the one most likely to give you an offer.
You need to look at the different application processes and work out which suits you best- in person MMI interviews or online interviews, situational judgment tests or SAQ (which is Bristol).
You can only apply to 4 vet schools and if your preference is hands on learning I would recommend looking at the newer vet schools too.

definitely agree with the response above, I applied to RVC, Nottingham, Liverpool and Surrey this year and got offers from RVC and Nottingham. I regret applying to both Liverpool and Surrey because they both have the same interview format (automated MMIs) which definitely didn’t suit me (could be different for you though!). If it’s your first time applying and you’re unsure of what format fits you best, try and spread out your options and have your unis be different formats and the right vet school will pick you. Honestly, Liverpool changed their interview format after I applied without updating their website, I felt it was a bit unfair as I didn’t want two vet schools with the same interview format, but regardless I am happy with how things turned out and I know that RVC and Nottingham suited me better. If you’re looking for practical courses, definitely look at the newer vet schools and Nottingham, I visited nottingham and was amazed by how many practical opportunities they have and I have friends on the course who are loving the teaching.
Hope this helps and good luck! 🍀
