Human Sciences at UCL

ahhhhh is anyone else applying for human sciences this year? Have any of you guys got offers yet and, if so, when did you submit your application? Which a levels are you guys doing right now?

I’m so nervous lol and I’m aware it’s quite a small course so I was just wondering if anyone else here has applied. Good luck!!!

or if anyone is doing the course right now and would like to share their thoughts about how they’re finding it and what they’re gonna do in the future, that would be really helpful!

congrats! if you dont mind me asking, what other courses are you applying to? i'm not sure apart from ucl, birmingham and durham where a personal statement on human sciences can take me. thanks!

hellooo im an incoming y13 student and I am really considering this course for uni - what kinds of things did you add to your personal statement to get accepted? I am currently really worried about what to write in my personal statement (esp bc of the new layout) as throughout year 12 I really didn't know what i wanted to do after y13 and now im in a position where i dont have much/ any relevant work experience. I study bio, psych and business but everything i read online says not to go into academics on my personal statement. any tips???

(Evolutionary/physical/biological) anthropology and/or archaeology courses, demography and/or human geography courses, or a wide range of bioscience courses, depending exactly on how you "flavour" your PS.

You don't need work experience for this or any other academic degree. You should discuss academic topics just not what A-levels you're taking, stuff you've covered in the A-level course itself (unless as a preliminary comment to discuss something that topic led you to outside of the A-level course), nor how you think your A-levels are relevant to the course. The admissions tutors already know what A-level subjects you're taking (from the rest of your UCAS application), they know what the syllabuses for your A-level subjects are already, and they know if they are or are not relevant to the course.

What they want to see is what kind of stuff you have read about (or done) beyond the A-level curriculum of relevance to the course you're applying to. They're not looking for any specific book to have been read or topic to be mentioned, they just want to know how your intellectual curiosity brought you to that subject in the first place and how you have explored it further.
