Uni of Bath vs Uni of Birmingham

Hello I'm just wondering what are people's opinions on these two universities for Msc Human Resource Management?
Hi there!

Really great to hear you're considering Bath as one of your options alongside Birmingham.

I cannot personally speak for your course as I have not done it, but I can definitely speak for my own positive experience here at Bath.

Bath has one of the best performing business schools in the country with a multitude of different options at PGT level, as well as one of the safest cities in the country which is beautiful, vibrant and filled with lovely oldy-worldy Georgian architecture. The uni itself has a cosy village culture with a fountain, green space and a duck lake on campus, and is a very diverse community as about a third of our students are international. There are also over 150 societies and sports you can get involved in, SU nights every week and a lot of part-time work opportunities if you wish so its a really fun place to be outside your studies too.

Birmingham, by contrast, is a huge city with a faster pace of life, which suits some people better than a small city like Bath would as there is likely more to do and see. That being said though, Bath is only a half-hour, £3 bus ride away from Bristol if you wanted to explore more 🙂 - it completely depends on what you want out of your student experience.

Something like Human Resource Management is likely to vary subtly in module content from uni to uni - I would advise going for the uni which offers the course you like better - which has modules which you think you would enjoy more or would help you get to where you want to be in future?

Both unis are very strong, particularly Bath for Business, and so whichever you choose I'm sure you'll make some fantastic memories and have a great academic experience.

I hope some of this helps and best of luck in making your choice!

Hey, It's actually very difficult to make a direct comparison as both universities offer a unique experience. However, at the University of Birmingham, the MSc Human Resource Management (HRM) program stands out with its CIPD accreditation, giving students a professional edge. UOB is also ranked No.1 in the UK for graduate employability (High Fliers 2024), meaning students benefit from strong industry connections, employer events and career development support. Beyond academics, UOB offers a vibrant student life, leadership opportunities and a diverse community, ensuring a well-rounded experience beyond academia. If you’re looking for a university that combines academic excellence, professional accreditation, and strong career prospects, University of Birmingham is definitely a great choice. Good luck!
