I think my diploma it’s unusefull

Hi guys I have a question and would be very grateful if you can share your thoughts with me about this. So I finished uny in 2023,but that year was very challenging for me in my personal life (loads of death in my family) as well as I knew I wouldn't want to pursue that career in my life so I decided not to send my dissertation or last year project in because of how overwelmed I felt because of it all the time. The teachers were even kind enough to give me a whole another year to complete only that, but because my mental health wasn't at it’a best, really, I acted as if nothing happened and didn’t tell anybody about it and missed the opportunity to finish my degree…again. I just couldn’t find the strength to do it. Now I do have a diploma from them but it doesn’t say the honours or division. It only says bachelor of science and criminological and forensic psychology. I even had good grades in general and really did my best throughout uny l but didn’t liked the subject. Now my true question is: do you guys think it’s worth mentioning the uny in my cv? Or because I didn’t completed my dissertation all the work I did for 3 years was for nothing but “personal growth". Please help me because I am currently looking for jobs and really don’t know what to do. Thank you so much in advance.

You gained a qualification at uni. So yes, you should absolutely include it on your CV.

Hey,

Absolutely mention your degree on your CV! Even without the dissertation, you still earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminological and Forensic Psychology, and that’s a huge achievement. Employers value the skills you developed during your studies, such as critical thinking, research, analysis, and time management. These are transferable to many roles, even outside your original field.

If you’re unsure how to present it, consider adding a note like:
“Bachelor of Science in Criminological and Forensic Psychology (without honours), University Name, 2023.”
This way, you’re being transparent while still showing the effort and knowledge you gained during your time at university.

It’s also worth reaching out to your university’s career service. At the University of Salford, for example, graduates have access to Lifetime Service Eligibility, meaning support is available even after graduation. Your university might offer something similar, so it’s worth checking! They can help you tailor your CV, explore career options, and even provide mental health resources if you need further support.

Since you’re open to exploring new career paths, the career service can guide you toward opportunities that align with your interests and strengths. Remember, many people change direction after university, and employers often value diverse experiences.

Best of luck!
