University of Liverpool MARM MA interview advice

I have recently received an offer to interview for a Masters in Archives and Records Management with the University of Liverpool sometime in April. Does anyone on the course currently/who has completed it in the past have any advice about what to expect in the interview, how should I prepare etc.? I've done interviews for jobs and internships before, but I never had to interview for my undergrad, so I'm not too sure about how university interviews differ.

Well done!! I applied for the same course only last week. How long did it take for you to hear from them? I also have not had an interview for a university before, so should I get offered an interview, I shall be in the same boat 🙂 I would expect, however, they would want to see our personality, problem-solving skills (with a case study example), and what skills we have which would make us a good applicant.

Good luck with your application! I submitted my application around the end of December, I received a request to send them my references about a week or so into January, and then got my interview offer at the end of January - so about a month in all.
Glad to know I'm not the only one not having done a postgrad interview before. I saw someone on another forum (unfortunately I can't find the exact post again) say that they apparently want to ask you about your understanding of records management as well as archival work - unfortunately that post was from about 2006 😂, so might not have the same approach now. Also, someone on reddit who had an interview in 2017 said they asked about the challenges facing the sector & your previous archive experience.

Thank you!! Thank you for letting me know. I have been eagerly counting down the 2 week mark as that is what I read on their website, now I shall relax a little knowing it might be longer 🙂 I think I have read the same posts/blogs. My plan will be to do some crash courses on Furture Learn and getting up to date on news in the sector before the interview (should I get one of course). I started my undergrad as a mature student. My career before was in records management in the compliance/corporate sector, so I am hoping my previous knowledge will come in handy!

I have mine tomorrow! 🙂 However, I got a conditional offer from UCL the other month (no interview needed) and this was my first choice. Still preparing for tomorrows interview though.

In the end I actually ended up cancelling the interview, as for various reasons I decided to accept an offer from UCL instead. Good luck with the outcome of your interview though!
