Is an apprenticship in investment banking worth it?

To give context, Im a y13 apiring to break into the world of IB. I have recieved offers from sheffield and kings for economics. Recently I've seen alot of people talking about IB apprenticships at big banks such as JP Morgan and Deutsche. I did apply to these but i am unsure whether to take the uni route or apprenticships. Ive heard people say some firms prefer university however some say that they prefer a person with lots of relevant experience. Can i just some advice on which route would be best

Just a thought - If you get the apprenticeship at JP Morgan or Deutsche Bank, why would it matter whether firms care about apprenticeship or uni route? Through the apprenticeship you would already be working for a firm, so you wouldn't have to worry about other firms.

Also, depending on the firm and role, apprenticeships offer a degree level qualification or an actual degree at a reputable university, so you've got the best of both worlds (university and work experience) through the apprenticeship.

However, one big thing you should think about is committing to a full time job. Could you handle the long hours, especially in IB, alongside studying for a qualification/degree? Remember it's not just about getting an offer for an apprenticeship, it's also about being able to handle and complete the apprenticeship too.

Good luck!

Thanks for the outlook on the situation. I tend to enjoy a challenge so the long hours of work doesnt put me off from IB. I appreciate the reply

i have seen alot of good candidates wait years for a graduate job just to gain experience and break into the world of IB , apprenticeship will help u gain a ton of experience and you would not have to worry about other firms if u are already working for a big IB
