What Should I Do?

I have had 2 offers so far. One uni has offered me for “home”. The other has made an offer but have asked me to fill out a fee questionnaire. The rest have also sent fee questionnaires to fill out. I just want to know if it is possible for a uni to assess you incorrectly and then after I make them firm/insurance, they change it to international?

Do you think that you’re ineligible for home fees?

I’m not certain. I think I am eligible but then why are all sending me a questionnaire? Just a bit of background: I have been here for almost 4 years, done my gcses here as well, don’t need a visa from the university as my current visa will last throughout the duration of my 4 year course.

They just want to be certain themselves that you are classified into the right fee status.

Home fees depends on your immigration status as well as your residency.
Ukcisa has advice on their website and a phone number you can contact for more help where they can find out about your current visa and whether that will give you access to home fees and/or student finance

One simple test: If you are British or have ILR and resident in UK for 3 years before starting uni, you should be eligible for home fees.
There are some other more criteria, e.g. visa leading to settlement, that are more complicated so they sent you the questionnaire. Just complete and return to them, seems they wanted to ascertain.

I am a dependent on a tier 2 work visa and will be eligible for ILR in my second year of uni (My current visa is valid until then). Hopefully the rest give me home status as well.

If fee is critical, be cautious. Most unis won't change their students' fee status half-way during the course. Once you paid international at year 1, you will pay international at remaining years even though your status changes. It is written on the unis fees and funding pages.

The only offer I have received so far, has assessed the fee status to be “home”. Do you think it is possible for them to change it to international for some reason after I make them firm?

They assessed your fee status based on the info you provided. They could ask for more info, e.g. sending you an questionnaire, if they are not sure. They could not change your fee status after you firm them, it is a contract between you and the uni. It will be a valid complaint if they did so.

Of course all of these is on the basis that you did not hide anything or give misleading info, which I trust you didn't.

Anyway, complete and return the questionnaires and more offers will come.

I have lived in the UK for ages and have ILR, but i almost always got asked to complete a fee assessment questionnaire. It just asks for details of where youve lived for the previous three years, once you submit it if you have been resident (as it sounds) you should be classified as home fees

If they classify you otherwise you can try and dispute it but at this stage its just an administrative process for them to confirm you should be home fees!
