HMRC Criminal Investigator 2025

Hello

I am currently in the process for applying for this role and have a few questions to ask anyone who may already be in the role itself or know a lot more about it.

Firstly, I’m coming from a Policing background and I Understand that investigators are only issued body armour and handcuffs. Is there a reason as to why they havnt been issued baton or anything? It seems alien to me that other departments such as immigration/border force have them as well as NCA but hmrc dont? The legislation allows for it and I only know too well how much people really don’t like being arrested lol.

Secondly, with regards to the training, I can see from previous discussions that some of the training is residential? Where abouts would this be?

Thank you in advance.
