Picking firm and insurance with same UCAS points

Hi, I would like some advice with picking my firm and insurance places for uni (Primary education BA)

I have applied to 3 unis. One has given me an offer of 88 UCAS points, the other two 104. The two unis which have given me 104 UCAS points are the two which I will more than likely put as my firm and insurance.
I will more than likely get into them both (very unlikely to get any lower than 104 as i'm predicted higher).

I like the unis both as much for different reasons, and can't pick between which one to put as my firm. (They are Winchester and Oxford Brookes)

Can I just check that if I get my 104 points that the only option for me would be going to my firm choice?

Although I am not sure yet about the course with 88 UCAS points, is it more worthwhile to put this choice as my insurance than it would be to put the other course worth also 104 points as my insurance?

Thanks so much!

You cannot 'switch' your Firm and Insurance choices on Results Day.
If your Firm accepts you, your Insurance choice disappears and you can't get it back again.
You have until June to make this choice - so no need to rush at this.

Thanks, and I would like to choose soon so that I am likely to get the right accommodation.
If I changed my mind would my insurance uni be any more likely to accept me through clearing (as I have put it as my insurance but automatically rejected once accepted into firm).

Hi there!

If your predicted grades are much higher than 104 points then I would definitely use those as both your firm and insurance, especially if you prefer those two more. You would only really want your insurance lower than your firm if your predicted grades are the same/similar to the firm choice in case you miss out on the grades.

If by chance you don't get 104 points on results day, you might find that the course will let you on anyway (if it is a near miss), but if not then you could find a place elsewhere through clearing - possibly the place that requires 88 points.

If you change your mind and want to swap from your firm to your insurance, it is possible that they will let you do this through clearing but only if there is space on the other course, so it is an option but I wouldn't rely on it as a definite.

Hope this helps!
