Changing your course after getting an offer

Hi there!

It’s completely normal to rethink your choices - whether you’ve discovered a better opportunity or simply changed your preferences. This guide will walk you through two options ·

Switching to a different course at the same university

Changing universities entirely after receiving offers

Switching to a Different Course at the Same University

If you're happy with your university 👍 but want to switch courses, you’ll need to contact the admissions team. Have your UCAS ID ready so they can quickly find your details in the system.

DMU Admissions Contact:

📧 Email: [email protected]
📞 Phone: (+44) 0116 207 8443

If a course transfer is possible, the university will update UCAS on your behalf

Changing Universities After Receiving Your 5 Choices

If you’ve received decisions from all five universities and want to apply elsewhere, you might be eligible for UCAS Extra.
UCAS Extra allows you to apply for one course at a time between 26th February and 4th July 2025, but only if:

You’ve received decisions from all five universities/colleges.

You weren’t accepted or declined all your offers.

Here is the UCAS webpage on UCAS Extra:

I hope this has been helpful for anyone who's feeling uncertain about their choices and cleared up any confusion 😀

This is incorrect advice

Decline my place is only available post A level results day and for a short period of time and only for unconditional firm choices.

When used it places an applicant into clearing.

It’s not the route to use to switch courses with your firm choice. Your firm choice can just amend your course. Using decline my place and then adding it back as a clearing choice is twice the work for your firm university. It also risks losing any guarantee of accommodation

Hiya!

Thank you so much for pointing this out! We sincerely apologise for the mistake. You're advice is absolutely right, declining a place is only available after A-level results and usually for a short period of time. We'll update the post as soon as possible.

Heyyy doing a Tenancy takeover for an 8-bed en-suite cluster in D Block Lumis Leicester £161 per week. I’ve already paid the £100 deposit so all you need to do is move in and pay the rent x

Contract is from 06/09/25-28/08/26

It's right opposite DMU, a 15-20 minute walk to UOL and a 5 minute walk to town x
