enquiry to biomedicine from medicine

hello, so i am currently in year 12 sixth form and i am studying sociology, applied science and sociology. i am planning on doing biomedicine then switching to medicine on my first year, buy i am worried i would not be allowed to. i got 5'4 in my foundation combined science, a 4 in math and a 5 in English. i know i don't have really great gcse's grades but i moved to the Uk and and got into school TWO months before the gcse's and i never did year 11 in my former school in my home country, thinking that if i come here i will continue but i was delayed to go to school for six whole months so when i got an admission, i was only given two months to prepare for the gcse's exam and never even got to do my mocks.
My question is, do you think universities will accept me to do my desired plan. it doesn't even have to be universities, it could be an apprenticeship.
please someone help me!!! thank you!!

Simple answer, you can't just switch to medicine after your first year of uni. Usually, uni's require you to have completed the whole degree or at least 2-3ish years before you can apply to graduate entry medicine. To get into graduate entry medicine, you need a first or at least 2nd class honours, which means you have top 10-20% of grades in your course year.
I think you should first worry about getting into biomedical sciences, you'll need pretty high grades, minimum B's and A's, so you should focus on them before this.
There are no medicine apprenticeships.

oh, thank you so much for your reply. so does this mean if i get really high score in my current a levels, i can be accepted to biomedicine? and also does doing the ucat or bmat and getting high scores help increase my chances at getting in?
thank you once again?

Yes, you'll need good A-levels to get in.
The ucat is only for medicine/dentistry applicants so it would not help an application to biomedical science at all.
Best of luck.

hey,
so im going to medicine next year after having completed my neuroscience degree, and let me tell you ... getting into med as a graduate is hard. i think if ur serious about it, then try to get the best possible a-level grades, and really good UCAT to compensate for ur gcses. then apply in year 12. see how you get on, if you dont get in then id suggest takinga gap year, redoing some of the GCSEs and applying again. just know that after u do a degree, applying to medicine after becomes v difficult, so make that decision wisely. best of luck with everything!

so sorry for answering late!!. now im scared about what to do lol. i try to make retaking any gcse as a last resort as some universities i talked to said they do not accept reseats, regardless of the excrutiating circumstances.
do you think taking an access course like the HE diploma will be good? because bristol university ( i know it is very competitive) said they accept HE diploma students to do the standard five year program.
thank you!!
