Harris Westminster Interview

Hi, I have an interview for Harris, and I'm looking for some advice. My subject is Biology, and the website mentions that you should prepare something related to the subject—but to what extent? It also states that they teach you content during the interview. For those who have done this interview before, how difficult was it and is there a way to prepare for it?

Hey babe, I go hwsf currently so I can answer some questions for u x

The interview is split into 2: in the first part they ask you why you want to take the subject. it’s pretty generic, but make sure your equipped with a niche to talk about in that subject - for example, I interviewed in English and I talked about the translation of literature creating a liminal space, and how translation affects integrity in literature. In the second part, they give you a problem to work through aloud.

I think one of the questions that have cropped up in biology interviews has been along the lines of ‘why do strawberries go from green to red’. You’re obviously not expected to know the actual answer, they just want to see your logical thinking abilities, and how good you are at picking up new concepts. The question won’t be anything you come across in the gcse spec (not like a past exam question or anything).

Honestly the interview’s chill, don’t sweat it. It takes like 5-10 minutes and the more relaxed you are, the easier it is trust me. in terms of what to prepare, make sure you come with a GOOD reason of why you want to study the subject (the school is all about ‘hinterland’, so make sure to research an interesting niche - no need to prepare a speech or anything tho, I just did a few bullet points the night before).

u can me if u have any more questions xx
good luck !
