Has anyone jumped from 7-9s in three months

Hey was just wondering if anyone’s actually jumped grades between now and the exam and if so how. I’m currently sitting comfortably on 7s across the board with a few eights and nines depending on the paper but I would like to achieve most if not all nines at gcse does anyone have any tips please

It's very possible with regular practice and an understanding of what you're missing right now

Hey @Ab0204,

The gap between grade 7 and grade 9 at GCSE can definitely be crossed between now and the May/June exam period. If you're currently achieving a grade 7, that means you have a good grasp on the content and have a clear understanding of how to revise/learn material. To achieve a grade 9, I'd recommend trying to improve exam technique and trying to identify where you're losing marks - is it on particular topics, do you score better in short questions rather than longer ones, do you ever run out of time during an exam, etc.

If you're not already using past papers for revision, this is an excellent time to start. Use your phone to set a timer for the standard length of the exam you're taking (e.g. an hour, an hour and thirty minutes) and then try to complete it within the time limit. This will help improve exam technique and give you an experience similar to that of your actual exam. After you're done, use the mark scheme available on your exam board's website to grade the paper yourself and note down any areas for improvement.

Best of luck with your exams, and hopefully you move up to a grade 8/9 by exam season!
