Higher English Critical Essay Help

I am studying the Song of Achilles for Higher English this year. How should I make a good essay plan? I have read the book once but I am completely clueless on how to build an essay out of it.

Look at potential questions you can get asked for then try build quote banks that can fit as many questions.

I would say look at exam questions and try to build example essays around a character, maybe a key scene/turning point if there is one, and a key theme of the book. I would definitely read the book again because ive had to read mine about three times to understand what's going on. also try. to focus less on remembering key quotes because they might not fit with the specific essay question you get, but on events and key parts of the book which you can link to a few main themes. if you do focus on quotes definitely try to make sure they link to multiple questions or themes
