can an epq be a literature review?

Hi there @yi123456 ,

From my experience, an EPQ can be a literature review. I would suggest double checking with your teacher to make sure first, im sure they will be happy to help! 🙂

A literature review is a great way to show research skills, critical thinking and academic writing ability 🙂

It needs to be more than a literature review. You don't need a literature review for the EPQ, but it can help show your marker that you've fully considered all of your sources. It also helps to flow nicely into your main body of arguments.

It would have to be a very in depth literature review which takes into consideration historical context, authors personal life, critical opinions on the work, etc as the main pint of an epq is showing that you can take research from a variety of sources and consolidate it into your essay. My teacher recommended using at least 20 sources and i personally ended up using 34, and i do think it's possible to do that much research for a literature review it may be a bit difficult. Also, it's recommended that your question allows for a good fairly balanced argument. I think that if you word the question correctly you should be able to do a review. My epq was also literature based, but it was more about the historical reception and influence of a poet's work rather than a review.
