Is it possible to complete an epq privately?

I was planning on doing an epq in sixth form and our sixth form told us we have to fill in a form for those who are interested, this was back in november fast forward to february i didn't get picked for it which literally BROKE me as i was actually excited to do one especially because i wanted to do it on the Burning sun scandal.

Anyways now im trying to figure out if i can just do it privately but according to a source on the internet its not possible to complete one.

Im literally desperate and im willing to do anything to do that EPQ because if i dont i dont stand a chance in even being considered for a good university because my gcse grades were the basic minimum

You'd need a supervisor - hard to find outside of school. It's probably possible to do it online somewhere, but you'd have to pay of course.
