Oxford Waitlisters - Postgraduate (2025-2026)
Hi. I wanted to make this for people who have been waitisted by oxford for their postgraduate studies (DPhil/MPhil/MSc etc)!

I would say it’s excessive. It’s best to only email the department of the programme you applied for. It should be on the page of the programme under ‘contact details’. That should be enough

I know it will change depending on the course and position, but are there stories of people actually getting in from the waitlist? I'm 3rd in the list for an MSt english strand and I just don't know whether to feel like I realistically have no chance:[[ and I can't find anything online about people who have managed to get a place after being waitlisted

Samee here, I’d love to know if anyone’s gotten in from the waitlist in the past and where on the waitlist they were, idk whether to consider this a rejection or not

I have gotten in from a waitlist! I made this thread when I was waitlisted and I was then bumped up to an offer so don’t lose hope !!

Does Oxford tell you what place you are on the waitlist if you get waitlisted? Also, does anyone have any experience with being put under re-evaluation during the first admissions round? Does this usually end up in a rejection/waitlist or have people been admitted after being put on re-evaluation?

That's great and encouraging to hear! I am a bit confused how u got in so quickly considering the deadline for offer-holders to accept/decline is in April, but nevertheless big congratulations!!

I was never told where I placed on the waitlist and this was for a DPhil so not a masters

For my programme, the deadline was 1 week after getting the offer so the turnaround apparently was quicker ? I wasn’t expecting to hear back either anytime soon which is why I made this thread. And thank you!!

I didn’t view my waitlist as a rejection since even if they really wanted to reject me, they would have. People tend to not accept offers due to many reasons e.g financial. I’d email and ask when you will know for certain that they won’t be any more places available in the 25/26 class.

I wanted to show proof of my change of status from waitlist to offer. I did white out information for privacy reasons but kept the 2025 part so you know it is from this year 🙂

I'm waitlisted for Mst Theology specialising in Science and Religion! I think I might email them too just to ask when I should stop hoping to be accepted. There's only usually space for 10 people on the course so I feel like my chances of getting in from waitlist are low ☹️
