Official: Newcastle University A101 2025 Entry Applicants

Thought it would be good to start a thread for Newcastle A101 for 2025. How is everyone who applied feeling? It's been less than a month since the interview and I already feel like it's been a lifetime!

Hey, interviewed on 13th Jan. Feeling positive for it but wondering if I'm overestimating my performance. Hopefully the UCAT weighting post-interview makes up for it. One thing I'm concerned about is that we had an interviewer who went sick so they turned it into a rest station for us, and I can't remember how they said the scoring would work for us in this case. They never replied to my email so still in the dark.

Hey, thanks for making the thread! I interviewed in December so I'm just slowly losing my mind while we wait.

Do they use the UCAT after the interview for A101? I thought it was just A100 but I could be wrong.
That's a shame, but it was out of your control, I'm sure however they score it it'll be fair to everyone who was affected by it.

Yeah can only trust they'll be fair with it.

They don't explicitly differentiate in the Admissions Policy about the scoring post interview between programmes, just a blanket "The final score you attain will be based on your ‘Academic screen’ score and your ‘Interview’ score, weighted
50:50".

I'd interpret this as them doing the same for all programmes, but it is true that it could not be the case, will have to wait and see.

I hope they do use it post interview cos I feel like my interview went decently but I am doubting everything now, would be nice to have a boost from the UCAT.
Is Newcastle your top choice?

Yeah pretty much the same for me, though I felt positive immediately after, the longer we wait the more I doubt myself. How was your UCAT?

I think it's my top choice, I have an offer from Warwick but tbh I was expecting them to reject me so automatically made Newcastle my first choice in my head from then. I think I need to have a proper comparison of them before committing. How about you?

I got 3050 B1, what about you?
Ah congrats on the Warwick offer! Yeah it's my top choice, my family are in Newcastle and I applied to both A101 and A100. Also got interviews from Southampton and Swansea but not heard from anywhere yet.

3340 B1, it's the only thing keeping me optimistic for Newcastle, so really hoping they do use it post interview.

Nice, hope you get an offer then, any preference between Grad or Undergrad? I have an interview for Southampton coming up too, had to delay the first one due to extenuating circumstances.

Fingers crossed, that's a great score!
Thanks, I'm really hoping for grad but I'd be thrilled to go to Newcastle either way. Would be nice to not have to pay for undergrad though, and save a year.
Good luck with the Southampton interview, everyone I spoke to at mine was super friendly and encouraging.

My ucat was shocking this year so I was really surprised I even got an interview for Newcastle. The interview went really well but I don’t think it’ll be enough to make up for my ucat sadly.

I’ve got offers from Chester and Warwick so far but Newcastle is my first choice purely because I already live here, though I prefer the course of the other two and that they’re all grad med school.

Good luck with Southampton!

Congratulations on the offers! Yeah that's nice that it's all grad at those unis, I am a bit concerned about feeling like a dinosaur at Newcastle

Thank you!

Yes me too, I felt like a dinosaur at the interview being around all the undergrads! At least it’s all grad in the first year I suppose.

Same! Thankfully there were a couple of grads at my interview.

Has anyone heard from Newcastle? Someone on the spreadsheet has clicked that they've been waitlisted but it seems weird that that would come before offers.

No I've not heard anything yet. I'm guessing it was an accident as I don't think waitlisted would come out before offers.

Feels like we've been waiting for ncl offers for AGES. It's my last one I'm waiting to hear from and time is dragging

It is torture.

Did they use your GCSES in the academic scoring? And do you have to have completed your degree in a certain timeframe? Mine ended in 2016 so I’m not sure if that’s too in the past

They only use your degree, no A Levels or GCSEs as far as I'm aware.
I don't know about your second question, the admissions team are very helpful so I'd email them if I were you

Thank you! I have as it’ll be 10 years since I completed by the time I would start.
