I am struggling to manage my stress!

As we get further into the new year it means that we get closer to exam period! Whether you’re sitting uni exams, GCSEs or A-Levels exams, it can be super stressful. However, there are a couple of ways to go about managing and reducing that stress so you can focus on getting the best results you can!

Make a plan
- Whether you’re feeling confident, behind or overwhelmed at the amount of revision and work you have to juggle, the best thing you can do is make a plan! Making a plan not only allows you the chance to manage your time but breaks what you have to do down into much less overwhelming chunks. I personally love a calendar. This allows me to see exactly when my exams are and plan day-by-day so I can focus on my daily tasks as opposed to getting overwhelmed and avoiding it all together (which I have defo done a lot before!). Doing something is absolutely better than doing nothing so even if you have an off day, having a plan allows you to make great progress.

Take a break
- It can be super tempting when revising or doing coursework to try and cram everything in! Although revising every second of the day may seem like it’ll get you great results, it’s definitely counter productive. Burning out is definitely not what you want! Making sure you’re only revising for a set amount of time each day and taking lots of breaks is super important to protect your mental health and stop you getting burnt out just before exams.

Do what’s best for you!
- Something that can definitely get too much during times of stress like exams is trying to please other people. In this time you have to do what’s best for you, whether it’s taking personal space, saying no to extra shifts if you have a job or even not fully agreeing to social plans, don’t feel guilty for putting yourself first. It’s only a month or so for a result that will benefit you for a much longer period of time!
