LCF or MMU for Bsc: Fashion Management

I’ve received an offer for both this year but I’m still struggling to decide. I’m going to be attending both offer holder days so hopefully that will help me in deciding. For any past students at both MMU and LCF I was wondering if there will be a lot of maths on the course as I never studied A level business or economics in which I saw they had modules on it so would you think I’ll struggle with the content as I really don’t think maths is my strong suit. I do chem, bio and psychology. I believe I am more creative so would you say the courses is more business based than fashion based. Also what are the assignments like was it essays or more creative stuff ie mood boards etc. I was wondering how the social life was at LCF and MMU is as I’ve heard it’s not the typical “uni experience” for LCF so are people normally on their own? I prefer a more social aspect rather than being on my ones. Also how are the staff at both MMU and LCF are they helpful? In the future I would like to work in luxury fashion and I think LCF definitely has an edge to that because of London being a major fashion hub which has a lot of opportunities for internships however I preferred the course at MMU more and the environment when I visited an open day. I don’t know whether to value the internships/opportunities and prestige at LCF or go to MMU?

Hi there,

I can't speak for those two courses as I did not study them so I'm afraid I can't help there (there should be an 'assessments' section on the course page on the websites which might tell you more).

However I would say that you should do what's best for your wellbeing. If you are going to be studying something for 3-4 years its important that you like your course and what you'll learn as well as feeling at home in the place you're in. This will make you happier and more motivated, meaning you are more likely to do well. That being said, placement and internship opportunities do add a lot to your graduate CV and so if you have visited LCF and feel like you would still enjoy it then I would consider it.

Something which might help you is to make a pros and cons list of the two unis (your loved ones may be able to help with this!) and see after that which one appears to be the winner. I think you've chosen two strong arts universities and so I'm confident that you'll have a good quality academic experience whichever you choose!

I hope some of this helps,
