Eligibility for Maintenance Loan as an extended student

For context; I am a student on a year long extension. On my final year, just on the last term of my degree, I had a devastating incident which meant I needed time off from uni. This was agreed and given as it was important and understood I needed time to recover from said incident. It was a shame as my UG was near its end but that was how dire the situation was and I needed to take time off.

I have been on the mend since May last year, but it is hard to do so with financial issues hanging over my head. Therefore I applied for maintenance loan only which was approved by SLC. However; my university believes I am ineligible and that I should not have been approved in the first place.

I would like to ask, am I eligible for a maintenance loan even just by being an UG student on an extension?

If you're not in attendance, then you're not eligible for the finance. I would suggesting contacting us to advise you're not in attendance. If we find out in due course, we will stop the finance, it will be classed as overpayment and we will contact you to repay the money back.

Thanks,
Claire
