What makes a good photography portfolio?

Hi!

For a good photography portfolio, you should include diverse, high-quality images. Include a mix of your best work across different subjects or styles, if applicable (portrait, landscape, product, editorial, etc.). Every image should be high quality—sharp, well-lit, and properly edited. Only show your strongest work to leave a lasting impression.

In terms of editing and presentation...less is more. Choose around 15-30 of your strongest images that demonstrate your skills. Don’t overwhelm the viewer with too many photos. Your portfolio should flow well visually. Consider the mood, colors, and style of your images to ensure they align with the message you want to convey.

Your portfolio should have a clear narrative or theme, and should tell a story about who you are as a photographer. Whether it’s your use of natural light or your ability to capture emotion, make sure your personal style shines through. If you specialise in multiple areas, it can be helpful to organize your portfolio by categories. This way, potential clients can quickly find what they’re looking for (e.g., weddings, portraits, fashion).

I hope this helps!
