Heyyy,
Just a question, is anyone else having issues with student finance application? I keep trying to put in the course as vet med (foundation) but it comes up with “no course found” just a bit worried - called up the uni and was told that the name of the uni changed to University of Lancashire. But still the course can’t be found- has anyone else got this issue?
Hi there,

Please try not to worry. You won't be able to find this particular course on your application as it's not currently available on student finance yet, but please do keep an eye out for this.

If you have any questions at all, please do let us know.

All the best,
Sarah

When should I expect to be contacted about the occupational health check and the fitness to practice form?

When should I expect to be contacted about the occupational health check and the fitness to practice form?
Hi @Joshm26,

Thanks for your question. Emails related to occupational health checks will begin to be sent out from the end of March/April. In order to receive this information, applicants will need to have accepted their offer.

Just for extra information, universities have to make decisions on applications submitted by the equal consideration deadline (29th January 2025), no later than the 14th May. Applicants then have until the 5th June to make their firm and insurance choices. As a result there is no specific date of when occupational health check emails will be sent out, this happens as applicants accept their offers.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions at all 😊

Best wishes,
Sarah

Hi, I also have just firmed vet med!! Does anyone know when we can start applying for accommodation? I looked and it says we have to wait for an email with login details but I only just firmed it today so don’t know if anyone has it already?

My daughter chose IQ halls instead as it is far nicer and right opposite the vet school and she could book and choose her room straight away.
If you want any details send me a message.

Hey thanks for this, I've already done that but they came back and said they can't locate the course. Apparently the course is pending for the start dates so should update soon (UCLAN said)

I know people who have already done it by entering it manually for the BVMS 5 year which also said the same.

Hey! I don't suppose you have any idea what percentage of students that pass the vet med foundation year progress onto the 5 year course?

Hi @astercat,

Thank you for your message. As we only have one year's data to go by, over 75% went onto the full BVMS course. Entry on the foundation BVMS course does not guarantee a place onto the 5 year course however, if you pass the foundation course, and meet the other requirements such as interview and MMI's, then you will be guaranteed a place on the 5 year degree.

If you would like anymore information, we do have an offer holder day on 27 April which you can book onto here: Offer Holder Days at UCLan If you can't make it to the offer holder day we do also have an open day in June. Offer holder days are super useful to get a flavour of the course, the support there is for you and to get a feel for the university as well as getting all of your questions answered. If you do have any other questions, please let me know 🙂

Hope this helps and best wishes,
^Zac

Hello - we are also looking at IQ Kopa for accommodation. Of interest, have you selected 44 weeks or 52 weeks - thinking about placements during term breaks.
Thanks

My UCAS offer is a little bit vague, does anyone know if the As have to be in biology and chemistry or is it just AAB regardless of which subject?

I think it doesn’t matter what subject it’s in, as the website doesn’t specify either.

Hi there, thank you for your message and patience.

Looking at the entry requirements on our course page, the AAB is two science subjects, plus one other. For more information visit: Study Veterinary Medicine & Surgery, BVMS

Let me know if you have any further questions 🙂

Hope this helps, ^Zac
