Newly qualified Band 5 adult nurse, children nurse and midwife ( all NHS newly qualified nursing staff starts at bottom of band 5 )

You'll earn approx £2500 per month before any reductions of tax, national insurance, and pension contributions - after reductions it's roughly £1950 per month.

Below is the pay scale for NHS staff upto April 2024 and you'll have 2025 pay rise to be added when they decide what they are offering staff

Just make sure that you have English, maths and a science subject ( some universities will ask you for chemistry, some will ask you for just a science subject and you'll get some not requiring science subject at all, there's probably a few that may ask for biology.
Any other subjects you do is fine 🙂 🙂...... I would probably say geography is probably more easier than history.

NHS registered midwife here......

What you earn as a newly qualified band 5 midwife is approximately what littleemma has already said.
Your pay will depend on what part of the UK you are working in.
Currently a newly qualified midwife in Scotland starting at bottom of band 5 gets about £31,892 per year before tax, national insurance and pension and union dues is deducted. And then this will increase with any pay rise for 2025/26 and then you'll have your shift allowance in top to add.

I think England newly qualified band 5 midwife earns about £29,970 per year for 2024/25 before any reduction of tax, national insurance and pension and union dues 😞.
