How old are you? You need gently to cut the apron strings. You must use your own judgment as an adult as to what is safe and what is dangerous. You can only gain experience by driving. Motorways are safer than other roads because most collisions occur between vehicles going in the same direction at similar speeds.

Maintain situational awareness. Use your mirrors, maintain a two second interval between your car and the vehicle ahead of you. Drive at an appropriate speed. Don't dawdle at 60 mph when it's clear to drive at 70.
