Hey!

It sounds like you've got settled into a good routine of working, studying and exercising - well done! Now that teaching has begun for semester 2, I expect that you'll be a lot busier with your course and assessments, but here are a couple of suggestions of things you could do to banish boredom in the meantime:

Catch up with friends or flatmates over a nice walk around town, or a hot drink and sweet treat 🍰

Look at joining a new society or sports club, for some college sports you don't need any experience, just enthusiasm! 🏓

Learning a new instrument - if you join Music society, you can access cheaper music lessons 🎵

Learn a new language - download Duolingo and replace doom-scrolling with learning! 📚

I hope this helps! 😀

Hi! This isn't gonna help you much, but I'm deciding whether or not to go to York and am most worried about there not being much to do. Compared to Sheffield which has so much organised by the uni/student union and seems to always have something on, York seems more boring and focused on academia rather than student life. Thoughts?

Hi

These activities sound like you are doing them solo. I recommend asking your friends to go have coffee in town to have lunch together on campus. You can also get a gym buddy so you have someone to motivate you!

Also don't feel like it is too late to join societies because they accept new members all the time. For example I am in the Wentworth taekwondo club and we have been getting new members as recently as 3 weeks ago so really you can join any time. I have met my best friends there and we also cook dinners together, go climbing in Red Goat together, we watch movies in the cinema and shows in the theatre together. It really helps to not get bored if you have someone to spend your time with!

Honestly go to Sheffield. Wish I had gone somewhere with better nightlife cause music is one of my only hobbies that I’m really into. Im thinking about transferring to Sheffield Hallam
