Should i resit a-levels for newcastle or go to northumbria uni

Basically I’m around halfway through my gap year and originally didn’t plan on going to uni in the UK. But recently I changed my mind and decided that retaking a-levels in May/June 2025 was a good idea so I could study in the Newcastle area (where I live) in the likes of Northumbria or Newcastle for September 2025. since my current grades were too low to do so.

However, I recently got an offer for northumbria with my old grades (CCC) so i’m curious whether it’s a good idea to go there or continue with my retakes and hope for Newcastle uni.

I’ve put the needed information about retaking into UCAS already however I still haven’t payed the fee for retaking and so have the choice to just go to Northumbria.

I will go to uni in 2025 either way, so I’m asking for some advice on whether it is worth £550 and revising a-levels to go to a “better” uni. I haven't really had the time to check them both out to see which one looks better to me.

I will be studying computer science at both unis. Thanks

This is a copy from reddit, just wanted to ask for some more people's opinions.

Well isn't that the first thing you should do before even considering to change your plan? Go to their campuses, you can book a guided tour for free on their websites or email them about your situation. Research them intensively before you think about switiching your game plan.

Obviously Newcastle is the better university but think about if it's worth the £500 risk. If you do pay, make sure you know you can get the grades for Newcastle or it will be a massive waste. Don't ask others too much for a choice, think about where you are grades wise and finacially and make a desicion from there.
