volunteering

hey all! I'm just wondering if volunteering at a nursery would give me anything to reflect on in my cv/interviews. I thought it would be good experience since id love to be a pediatrician but I feel like I cant really say that. What do you think?

Very good volunteering opportunity and experience.

Since you'll be applying to medicine, you'd also want to get some medical volunteering such as in a hospital or a care home, and also some work experience in somewhere like a GP or a hospital.

Of course you'll need all A's and you'll need to do well in the ucat so keep up regular study and move to intensive closer to your test dates for both. (the ucat you don't really have to study now, wait until around 6 weeks before)

Your point about not saying you want to be a paediatrician is valid, as many people don't know what they want to specialise in for a long time yet, it is not expected and could work against you if you mention it too much.

I'm also applying to medicine, and as it happens, thinking of paediatrics as a specialty. What universities are you thinking of applying to and why are you interested in paediatrics?

Best of luck, I'll try my best to answer any more questions you have!

Thank you for all your help!

That's so cool! I'm very lost on universities right now as I changed my mind about all the ones I had thought of, how about you?

Pediatrics has always been such an interested of mine, I know there are things that only show up in childhood, and also I've always wanted to work with children! What do you like about it?

I apologise for the late reply, I've been so tired 💔

Universities aren't as big a choice for me as I get them free here in Scotland, so I'm applying to all the Scottish ones apart from St. Andrews.
I think I just like working with kids, they are so funny and it is such a joy to be a part of their lives, play with them etc. I volunteer at a children's outdoor activity centre, and it's so good to just be able act stupid and make the kids laugh. Why are you thinking paediatrics?
Sorry to hear that, the hard work will end at some point.
Best of luck with your exams etc.!
