Possibility of compensation

Unfortunately, I failed the Modern Pharmaceutical Science course with a score of 27% and I got 48% in the lab report, resulting in a total overall score of 43%. The subject is Modern Pharmaceutical Processing & Active Ingredient Delivery (30 credits)

I passed all other modules in my first semester and second semester except this one, and I would like to inquire if there is any possibility of compensation for my results.

Hey,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but it’s great that you’re being proactive in looking for solutions. First of all, well done on passing all your other modules. That’s an achievement in itself, and you should be proud of the hard work you’ve put in.

In terms of your failed module, it’s definitely worth checking your university’s specific policies on compensation. Many universities have systems in place that allow students to still pass the year even if they fail one module, as long as their overall performance meets certain criteria. Since this is a 30-credit module, it’s essential to verify how your university handles compensation for larger modules.

At the University of Salford, each student is assigned a personal tutor who is there to provide academic support and guidance throughout their time at university. Your personal tutor would be a great person to reach out to in a situation like this, as they can offer advice, explain your options, and even liaise with the relevant academic departments on your behalf. I’d recommend checking if your university offers a similar personal tutoring system, it could be a really valuable resource for you right now.

Don’t hesitate to contact your course leader, academic advisor, or student services to get clarity on your situation. They can help explain whether you might be eligible for compensation and guide you through any appeals or reassessment processes if necessary. I know it can feel daunting, but support is there for you, you just need to reach out. Best of luck, and I hope you find a resolution soon!
