Warwick Economics

I am home student with four A* predicted ( Maths , Further Maths , Economics and Physics ). I have 8 9’s and 3 8’s in GCSE . I believe I have good Personal Statement .

But , my TMUA score is only 3.8 ( October TMUA )

Can I still hope for an offer from Warwick Economics or is too much to expect ?

I've seen a person on reddit claim they got accepted with a TMUA score of 1 and another with a TMUA of 2. There is no way of validating these claims or knowing any extenuating circumstances but hopefully this gives you some hope. Also, 3.8 isn't that bad, I would say it would be a 4.5 to 5 on the old scale which is around average. Hopefully you applied to other unis that don't use the TMUA too, just as a backup. Good luck though.

I'm still waiting as well. I'm very similar, got a 3.8 am a home student, predicted 4 A*s and got 6 9s, 3 8s and 3 7s at GCSE. Hopefully they will get back soon.

TMUA is designed to distinguish 4 A* predicted applicants from one another. Obviously it is disappointing and disconcerting to get a below average TMUA score but I strongly suspect that A-level students in England will perform significantly lower on average on TMUA than applicants from some other geographies (Singapore? Shanghai?) and that the goal of TMUA in part is to collect data on those differences. So do not despair: the goal of UK universities is first and foremost to educate UK students and the TMUA scores are not absolutes but will be taken in context.
