Hello everyone, The day is here, the first offer holder day of the year, the February offer holder day! It is really exciting to be meeting some of you whom we hope to welcome in September. Below is some advice for how to make the most of your offer holder day as this will be slightly different to the open day which you would have likely attended.

1.

Get to know your department

Unlike the open day, for your offer holder day you will be spending much more time with your academic department who may be talking more about what it is like to be a student at Leicester, they may show you some of the facilities and may have some interactive workshops which will help you to get to know other offer holders. When I attended my law offer holder day, we had an interactive law reform discussion workshop, followed by demonstrations in the moot court and legal advice clinic and the opportunity to ask questions. Do ask whatever question you may have.

1.

Ask questions

There will be many people on campus who will be very keen to answer any questions you may have. They may be academics from your department or department-specific ambassadors but the ambassadors in red are also trained to know general knowledge and would love to help even if it is just to have a chat! Therefore do come and say hello! Also, please do feel free to ask questions on this thread throughout the day and even after today!

1.

Explore campus

The campus may look a bit different to how it did on the open day and this will give you more of an idea of what campus looks like every day for us students. Do go on a campus tour with the ambassadors in red, you can find them in the campus tour hut outside the Percy Gee building. Do check out our food outlets in the Percy Gee building and maybe you would also like a short walk around Victoria Park which is literally right next to campus!

1.

Visit accommodation

It is likely that you will be moving away from home and so will be in need of some accommodation. Do check out both the city and the village accommodation so you know exactly what is on offer which will allow you to make an informed choice. Today I am working at The Village so if you see this post please do come and say hello! It is important to remind you that for all first-year students who apply for accommodation before the 1st of September, you will be guaranteed accommodation. There is an accommodation choice for everyone at the University of Leicester and so I am sure you will find somewhere which you can call home!

1.

Have a great day!

Most importantly, have a good time and a great day! This could be your new home in the next 7 months and so you need to choose a University and city where you will be happy! If you have time after the offer holder day, do go for a walk down New Walk, a lovely pedestrianised path, to visit our city centre. There are lots of food options, such as Highcross and Haymarket Shopping centres, the King Richard the Third visitor centre, and Leicester Cathedral, where you will find the tomb of King Richard the Third! I hope you find today useful and get something valuable out of this experience.

For me when I had my offer holder day one of the things I noticed was just how friendly the University of Leicester was and this was really one of the biggest factors which helped me decide that Leicester was the place to be! I look forward to seeing some of you soon!

Hello @aneer3wq3wt

At the University of Leicester our Offer Holder Days take place over the next few months on different dates. Different dates host different subjects as these are more specific and tailored to the subject area in comparison to Open Days. Offer Holder Days are events that you are invited to and so your exclusive invitation and the relevant booking links will be sent to the email address you used when you applied. If you haven't received a booking email within two weeks of you receiving your offer you can get in touch with us by emailing [email protected]

If you have any further questions please do let us know!
