Liss dtp 2025-2026

Hi guys, I'm currently applying as an international student to the CASE LISS DTP studentships at QMUL.

I have a query to other international folks who were successful at securing these studentships:

- How have you managed to bridge the funding difference between home fees and international fees?
- Are you eligible to explore other forms of funding to cover the remaining fees?

Would be grateful if anyone can advise!

It's great that you're applying for the CASE LISS DTP studentship at QMUL! As an international student, covering the funding gap between home and international fees can be a challenge, but there are a few ways to bridge the difference:

1.

University Scholarships & Fee Waivers Some universities offer international fee waivers or top-up funding to students who secure external scholarships like LISS DTP. Check with QMUL’s funding office to see if they provide any additional support.

2.

Departmental or Supervisor Support Some PhD supervisors or departments have discretionary funds that could contribute toward the fee difference. It’s worth discussing this with your potential supervisor.

3.

External Grants & Charities Look into trusts, foundations, and research councils that provide international PhD funding, such as the Commonwealth Scholarships, Chevening, or Wellcome Trust (depending on your field).

4.

Part-Time Work & Teaching Assistantships Some PhD students work as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) to supplement their funding. Check if QMUL offers these opportunities.

It’s always best to ask QMUL directly about specific funding options for international students alongside the LISS DTP. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your application!
