higher psychology thoughts

hi, I'm planning on doing crash higher psychology next year ( alongside AH chem & bio with crash RMPS & physics) and I'm just a tad nervous about the course load. I've seen several people saying its awful and that there's far too much work to keep up with and a handful of people saying its relatively easy, and I'm just looking for some definitive answers.

What are everyone's thoughts? I'm willing to put in a lot of work next year (as you can see by my subject choices) but I'm just concerned about how bad/good the course is.

I'm planning on going to uni for psychology at the end of s6 next year so this would be very beneficial to me.

Thanks in advance for any advice !!

(ignore the #ugapplicants thats not supposed to be there but I can't remove it :frown: )

I was planning on taking it next year as well, but it was running at the same time as AH chemistry in my school, so I've had to dodge it. From what I've heard, it is the easiest higher, around the level of nat 5 history in the essay writing bit and the volume knowledge isn't much different from higher biology, debatably less.
Why are you crashing physics and rmps? Surely you'll already have enough in chemistry, biology and psychology, assuming you took enough highers this year, for any degree.
Best of luck to you!

thank you so much thats made me feel so much better about taking it !!

and im crashing higher physics and rmps purely because i think theyre gonna be interesting & i’ve wanted to do them in the past but picked others instead !!

plus with rmps i thought i wasnt going to be interested but after reading the course spec i saw they do much more than purely religious studies ( shocking i know ) so ive decided to pick them up

Hi im in S5 rn and i crashed higher psychology and im taking it currently. I also want to do psychology at uni, for me i liked the course it's very very essay based subject but the structuring is relatively easy. I don't think the course content is that much, im also taking higher human biology and would say that has WAYYYY more content compared to psychology but when ur actually taking notes in class it feels like loads . However i need to be very clear, like everyone else in my class hates it, theres a lot of note taking and it can be a bit dull at times, ive also talked to psych students at uni at an open day and they said that the higher psychology course isn't like the uni course and they didn't like the higher psych course structure. They also said you definitely don't need to take it for uni, i think they said it was about a 50 split between who took higher and who didn't.

It definitely can be a challenging subject, i quite enjoy it and excel in the essay structure required but a lot of my class failed the prelim and had to be moved down to nat 5, some of my friends who i thought would get As and Bs all got Cs (I still got an A but i definitely found it more challenging in a exam structure) I was really stressed about psychology before because i thought you had to remember the dates for all the studies but you don't - which makes everything a lot easier.
