year 9 doing an early citizenship GCSE

My school has applied my whole year group to do an early citizenship GCSE. I have my first mock on Friday. Does anyone have any revision tips or things they think i should know from former papers. Also it would be greatly appreciated if anyone would like to share anything from their citizenship lessons as my school has only gave us one year to learn all the content and we only have one lesson per week. This leaves us very little time to do everything required for the exam. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why? It's a very silly idea to sit this early. You'll hvae to put the grade on your UCAS whatever it is.

i believe its so it is easier to apply for colleges as they can see we have potential even from a younger age and to show our dedication.

Nope - universities don't like early GCSEs and what 'help' will a low grade give? Far better to get high grades in Year 11 ...

School can't force you to sit this early.

Hello, i did the citizenship GCSE last year. throughout my 5 years in high school we were never given a teacher despite this i still managed to get a really good grade. the only revision i did was watch primrose kitten on youtube the day of the exam. the content is quite basic and repetitive so don't worry too much about it. seneca has a course on citizenship so i suggest using that and make sure you keep up to date with the news as you can apply it to the questions.

Considering we are given many resources and have plenty of time to revise it is not often people get low grades in this exam (at my school). We also only get two options for GCSE. Meaning we will do a minimum of eight exams in year 11. Many people have managed to get a grade 9 in this exam at my academy and there have been 0 U grades in the 9 years it has been open proving how it is not a silly idea. If you are not offering help then please do not reply to my post.

thank you. I've also had someone else suggest primrose so i will 100% give this a go and as for seneca it sounds very helpful so i will definitely check it out.

I am helping by suggesting you don't take it early. Unless everyone gets a grade 9 this is a bad mistake.

You parents have to give permission for early GCSEs - the school cannot make you sit GCSE early - that's illegal.

That is correct. All parents have to sign the form or agree online when you join the school.

Did the school explain you have to declare the grade you get when you apply to university? I bet they didn't.

Why have the vast majority of schools stopped early entry do you think? Even many selective schools don't do this now.

I know this is a very late reply lol but I think we might be int he same school and from experience is just wanted to say that I would recommend looking at the textbook at different topics becuase they don't actually finish the content and they leave out what they deem unimportant but if u want to get top grades it might be useful.

Not if the uni course requires a high proportion of grade 9s!

You also need certain grades to get into a good Sixth Form - a grade 4 won't help.

well if people want to do it as a uni course they will have to do their own research and revision

What do you mean? You need good grades to get into a sixth form and if you don't know that it'll be too late finding out in Year 11.

Were you told that the grade has to go on your UCAS application?
