Year 10 - my GCSE journey to all 9s 🎉

Hey everyone,
I’ve started this discussion as a way of motivating myself (and hopefully others!) through this journey.
About me:
I am a year 10 student, aiming for mostly 9s in my GCSEs as would like to be a lawyer or doctor when I’m older and really want to get into one of the top unis.
However, I’m finding it kinda hard to get myself motivated this year, hence this blog!
My options:
English literature
English language
Maths (higher)
Biology
Physics
Chemistry
History
Geography
Drama
Spanish
RE
Good luck to everyone else in their GCSE journey and thank you in advance to everyone who posts, it really helps.

Omg, no way! I’d love to but don’t have social media so might make it a bit hard 😅

I’m probably going to start posting on this tomorrow but in the mean time, I’ll tell u abt my target and predicted grades (from me not the school):
Predicted:
Biology - 9
Chemistry - 8
Physics - 7/8
Maths - 8
English literature- 9
English language - 9
Religious education - 9
Geography - 8
History - 9
Spanish - 9
Drama - 9
Target:
Idk, I’ll be happy with a few 8s but kinda want all 9s cuz I want to go into law (or maybe medicine, idk)
Okay, byeee

Ok, I’m finally going 2 start posting on here . I’ve got my English spoken language endorsement tomorrow so praying that goes well 🙏 . I’ve been learning it over the weekend but I’m so scared I’ll forget it in the actual thing. Does anyone know how few notes you need to achieve a distinction? Another update coming tomorrow xx

Reply 11

Did spoken language and got distinction 🎉🎉🎉
By the way the only reason I haven’t been updating is cuz my iPad had an update and then started glitching out but it’s all good now.
I’ve also been invited to do additional maths (eduqas level 2). I might just try it out but I’m not sure cuz I feel like I’m one of the weakest people doing it and I don’t want it to effect my other subjects cuz maths isn’t even my favourite but I think that’s probs just cuz of my teacher and I’m still pretty good, I got an 8 in my mocks and in my predicted.
So does anyone know how hard it is going to be for me to achieve a decent grade in it and how likely it is to affect my other subjects?
Thank you xx

And I’ve actually gotten my predicted from the school now and I’m so proud, it’s much better than my own predictions:
Biology - 9
Chemistry - 9
Physics - 9!!!
Maths - 8
English literature- 9
English language - 9
Religious education - 9
Geography - 8 😭
History - 9
Spanish - 9
Drama - 9
The only thing I’m upset with is geography bcuz I studied the hardest for that and then in my mocks I got a 7 and in my predicted I got an 8 when I got 9s in drama and re when I was literally asking my teachers what the topics were and how to write the questions 2 mins before the test. I just don’t get what to say when in geography, like I feel like the specification is so unpredictable compared to like biology when it’s pretty much always the same. Does anyone here get geography and like know how to answer the questions. Like I know the point explain point explain but to me lots of the questions are so confusing or I write stuff the mark scheme isn’t looking for.

I’m gonna start studying in the summer in hopes I’ll be able to manage additional maths as well as everything else so for some subjects I just wanna know what I’ve learnt this year like the back of my hand. So today I’m doing English and maths. Wish me luck and update me on what all of u r studying (if you are)!

Okay so I got a bit lost doom scrolling this morning so I’m not gonna go on TikTok or YouTube till after my GCSE’s (not sure how long that’s gonna last tho) but ima let myself go on stuff like Pinterest which still releases that dopamine but, for me at least, is less addictive.
I’m gonna do an hour of maths and geography now, going over everything I’ve learnt this year.
I think I’m gonna aim to do 2 hours every day because I wake up at 10 and then don’t really do anything until 12 so that could be time better spent but I’m gonna take lots of time to just enjoy myself. Remember it’s still a holiday, don’t burn yourself out before the year’s even started! Xx

Yh I haven’t posted cuz I haven’t really done anything much yet but I’m starting today 🙂
My aim is just to have learnt history, physics and analyse more an inspector calls from English.

Hello! Lovely to hear about stories similar to mine, thank you for sharing!
I know this was posted a few months ago, but I thought I'd reply and let you know I'm wishing you all the best, I hope you're well and happy, feeling fulfilled with wherever you find yourself at the moment. I'm just going into year ten in September, and I'm aiming for very similar grades, with similar predicted too - lots of parallels between us! (also, I love that your username includes 'Clover' - that's my middle name haha!)
I just thought I'd say that I hope you're doing well, and I hope you know you're not alone - all of this is difficult, confusing and sometimes feels impossible to navigate, but we're all in it together and it's surely worth the hard work, for the future you deserve to enjoy. Lots of love,
Ally x x
