The Student Room Group

My parents never let me do anything

I’m not allowed to leave the house apart from school or if they force me to go out with them. The only thing I’m allowed to do is study but I can’t even go out with my friends to study. I’m not allowed to go on walks or even have a separate dinner. I feel trapped they’ve told me that when I get a job I have to help contribute towards their needs. What should I do ? I try to talk to them bout when I ask for reasons they say I don’t need to give you reasons or just ignore me for weeks if we disagree.

Depending on how old you are, you'll just have to live with it. You'd probably just have to wait until you are going into uni/ whatever and run for the hills.
What they are doing is cruel and unfair and you need to find a way to make them realise this. Your childhood is probably the only time of your life that you'll have this much freedom and it is a right they cannot take from you.
Best of luck.

dw bro i kinda relate, ive got pretty strict parents too. dunno how old you are (im in yr11 rn) but ig you just gotta live with it even tho it sucks. just wait for things to get better when you move out and look forward to all the amazing memories youll make then. for now, considering youre stuck at home most the time, maybe start trying to learn a new skill or something (like coding or an instrument idk)

really wish i could properly help, but ig thats unfortunately just how things are sometimes. here to talk if u ever want to js pm me
