Pharmacy is a very hard degree, very heavily chemistry and memorisation based. It's pretty much a stable career choice comparatively though. Whether it's good is up to what it is you're interested in, people will say the job market it oversaturated but offer little advice into what job sector isn't in the UK. If you go for pharmacy, definitely make sure you got to a Russell group at least so you stand out later on.

Hiya! It’s great that you’re considering pharmacy! As a final year pharmacy student I’m happy to share my perspective.

Pharmacy is great if you’re interested in both science and healthcare. It combines biology, chemistry and clinical skills to develop an understanding of how drugs work and how you can apply this knowledge to help people.

It is definitely a challenging degree, although I think we have more free time than medical students for example. The main challenge is the amount of content we have to cover, which is the same for every school of pharmacy. We are held to a high standard because our actions directly affect patients, especially now that we will qualify as independent prescribers. At Bath we have placements directly related to each module so these reinforce our learning and show us how it applies in a clinical setting. I find this helps with remembering some of the content and also motivates me to keep working hard because you are reminded what an impact you can have on people.

I think pharmacy is fun. Again, it is a huge time commitment but I find the content really interesting and placements are rewarding. It is also a very valuable and secure career choice. Certainly in the South West, where I am based, there is a significant shortage of pharmacists so you are basically guaranteed employment when you qualify if you are in this region. This also means we have very competitive salaries, which is of course a bonus.

Let me know if you have any questions about pharmacy or studying at Bath 😊

What is ur GCSEs grades and a levels ?

hi.
my gcse grades are:
science 3:3
maths 3
english lit and lang 5
business 2
sociology 4
ICT L2P
geography 2

now i am in college and re taking my maths but i am currently doing Level 2 applied science so i need to try to get my maths in order to either progress onto the level 3 or i could go back to sixth form and do: Health&social care, ICT and psychology for Alevels. i also am booked in for a meeting with my sixth form and i am going to ask them if i could change one of my subjects to maybe Alevel chem. if i get a distinction they might get me off as that could classify as a 6 as i am doing a GCSE level subject.

Ur considering your college requirements but your not considering university requirements if u wanna do pharmacy. U need to resit ur GCSEs to get a 6 maths eng science and another .a levels r not going to do u good with strong set of gcses

Well it depends really u want to do pharmacy in an average uni and little only offer applied . I am afraid u haven’t really search unis requirements ofc they do . Please search up unis like Manchester for pharm. consider both college and uni requirements so I suggest u look in resit the subject and try go for three a levels
