Hi, my DC auditioned this year and here’s what I have learnt …
It’s a small, very friendly school. When we went for the audition day they remembered us from the open day! I get the feeling that they nurture their students more than in some of the bigger schools. They’re a CDMT Accredited school (along with the likes of Urdang, Laine, etc), so I’m guessing that’s a good thing!
Nice location (near Baker Street / Marylebone). Classes are held in various locations including a converted church hall across the road.
The audition was in person from 10-4pm. DC needed to prepare a song and monologue but the dance part was made up of ballet and jazz workshops - so no solo to prepare.
Millennium is currently revamping their website which is good as it was pretty awful. But they have FB, X, and Insta. I think maybe their marketing is the reason no-one seems to know about them but hopefully that is about to change with the launch of their new website?
Alumni - did a tiny bit of research and one has been cast in the new Disney show “Hercules” and another now teaches at Performers. There are others too in shows in the west end but I can’t remember the details right now but I think it’s all on FB. To me, the ratio of those that find success in the industry seems on track for a small school.
I think Millennium is regarded as quite dancey which suits DC (although DC’s opinion was that it wasn’t *particularly* dancey).
Classes for first years in a typical week include around 10 hours of dance (ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary). And then there’s singing/musicianship for 2.5 hours, acting 3.5 hours, performance 3 hours, lectures/tutorials 4 hours, physical man 2.5.hours.
I think that’s about all I know!
