Hi!

Although I do not study law at LJMU, I can say it is a great university to attend for a law degree! Have you looked into visiting Open Days or Applicant Days? Visit the page here. As someone who studied English at LJMU and had an amazing experience, I can share some insights into the Law program that might help you make your decision.
I would also suggest visiting the Unibuddy page where you can chat to current Law students at LJMU to hear their opinions and ask them questions directly. Click to follow the link for LJMU's page.

Practical Experience from Year One
One standout feature of LJMU's Law program is the opportunity to engage in real legal work early in your studies. From the second semester of your first year, you can participate in the university's award-winning Legal Advice Centre. This center has provided over £0.6 million worth of free legal advice to the local community since 2014, assisting more than 500 clients. You'll have the chance to attend solicitor-client interviews and contribute to pro bono services in areas like family law, civil litigation, and wills.
High-Quality Teaching
The Law program at LJMU is delivered by supportive and highly qualified legal professionals and academics. In the 2024 National Student Survey, 95% of students surveyed said the teaching staff were good at explaining things.
Active Student Law Society
LJMU boasts a highly active Student Law Society, providing numerous opportunities for networking, skill development, and socializing. Engaging with the society can enhance your university experience and help you build valuable connections within the legal field.
Placement Opportunities
The program offers a sandwich year option, allowing you to undertake a year-long work placement in the UK or overseas. This experience can be invaluable in applying your knowledge in real-world settings and enhancing your employability upon graduation.
Support Through Court Scheme
In your final year, there are opportunities to work on the Support Through Court scheme at the Liverpool Civil & Family Justice Centre. This exclusive partnership provides practical experience in supporting individuals through the court process, further enriching your understanding of the legal system.
Student Satisfaction
Liverpool was rated 2nd best place to live and work in the UK (City Liveability Index, 2023)
It was rated #1 Safest UK City (Student Crowd, 2024).
Choosing to study Law at LJMU means you'll receive a comprehensive education with ample practical experience, supported by dedicated professionals in a vibrant student community. If you have any more questions or need further information, feel free to ask!

Hello Afg15!

Thankyou so much for your post! My names Katy, I am 1st Year at LJMU currently studying Criminal Law and i absolutely Love it! I have been able to learn so much about things that i am quite passionate about such as Human Rights law and Youth Justice! Here at LJMU we offer different types of Law so i would recommend having a look at different law course, their entry requirements and the modules within that course to make sure you will be doing something you enjoy! We are also encouraged to do placement years, study abroad and to think about life after university! I do genuinely love my course and i am here if you want to know anything else regarding university or law itself! Feel free to reply or message me 😁

I am a third year doing law and criminal justice at LJMU and my journey has been amazing so far. The different modules the I have taken all have made it interesting and I have learned a lot. The tutors have all be great and are more than happy to help you whenever you require help, so I would recommend applying to LJMU.
Thanks, Mo
