UCAS Extra

Dear friends,

Can I use UCAS Extra if I haven't got any kind of reply from the university that I want to withdraw from, but I have one offer from another university?

Thanks in advance

No. If you want to utilise UCAS extra, then you'd need to withdraw all of your choices (or have all of your choices lead to a rejection).

I see. But can I withdraw from the university still? But not use UCAS Extra.

The one you haven't heard from? Yes, but wouldn't you want to see if they gave you an offer?

What’s the rush?
You must have liked that university a little bit if you put it as one of your 5 choices.

I mean I guess. But the whole reason I put that choice is because it's on of the only good universities that does my course. Since my course is so specialised, there's about 10 universities that does it. I think.

I don't actually care about my other choices to much as long as I have an offer from my first choice which I have

You can't use Extra without declining that choice though.

Do you have an insurance that you'd be happy to go to? Obviously you don't need one if you don't want it, but it does beg the question about grades. What happens if you don't meet your offer and the uni doesn't take you?

Are you 100% sure you'd want to disregard all other choices? We've already had a few threads this year where people have quickly withdrawn their other choices after getting their offer from "the one" and then having a change of mind (and panicking about how to swap back).

Edit: And as Admit-One has said, you'd need to ditch your preferred choice to use Extra anway.

Yes I do have an insurance I am happy to go to. I do healthcare course, so I have to do interview. I have an interview from my insurance choice next mouth. Also, I do applied science, so I can already predict the grades I will get. So my grades are fine. And I'm not disregarding the other choices. It's just the one I want to withdraw is far away and the home applicants have in-person interviews. And I just think it not worth it, if it's not a university I want to go to.

Also the university I want to withdraw from has a higher grade requirement than my preferred choice

Yes. So I will not use Extra then. But just withdraw the university I want to before I get any interview reply. Cause if I get an interview reply, I don't know if I can just reject that interview because I don't want to go to that university.

If you're 100% you're no longer considering that choice, then yes you may withdraw from that choice. That 'slot' however, is gone like the wind and you won't be able to use Extra to get anything back.
