classes for S6

hey! im currently in S5, and im doing higher maths, english, biology, design and manufacture, and, modern studies. im staying on for S6 and am thinking of doing higher business, psychology, and rmps (all crash highers), but am stuck on what other class to take. im thinking of taking advanced higher english, however if i get an A at higher, then advanced english wont benefit me when it comes to applying for uni. im quite stuck so any suggestions on what to do and if my 3 highers im planning on doing seem fine would be appreciated please. also for any recommendations on perhaps a 4th crash higher i can do in 6th year. please bare in mind id like all A’s so not something too difficult!! thankyou

What about higher admin? I did it in s4, and it's honestly **** easy. Like it's impossible to fail it, and everyone i know who has taken has gotten an A

Hi! im also in S5 and i crashed higher psychology this year. Please be aware psychology is a very essay based subject (ive never taken modern studies but i assume it's also very essay based so you should be good) and there's a lot of note taking. I really enjoy it but nearly everyone else i know who takes it hates it and a lot of my class failed the prelim. Please don't be scared off by that though bc it truly is an interesting subject, just definitely something to take into consideration! Im planning to crash RMPS next year as well!

yeah i’ve heard so many people say higher admin is such an easy A so i think im leaning towards that for next year! the only thing is i lowkey sometimes struggle using a computer like it’s not the worst but i can be a wee bit slow? is it true that the class is pretty much making powerpoints and learning how to use excel but i guess in a more serious way obvs?

hey! thanks so much for letting me know! do you know why so many people in your class didn’t enjoy psychology very much and didn’t do the best in the prelim. id say im pretty good as essay writing but the last thing i was is for me to dislike the class and then end up doing bad. i am thinking of doing psychology at uni tho so i felt like doing higher might give me a little insight of what the subject is like before i dedicate 4 years into it at uni x

Essentially yeah, you just learn how to use the different platforms and learn some theory. It's **** easy and I only know of 1 person who didn't get an A in it and she got a B

A lot of my class dont like the heavy note taking required and psychology is kinda hard to be made a fun subject like other sciences, the funnest thing we got was a written activity before the assignment came up. It can be a pretty repetitive feeling subject and can get a bit dull (uni ppl assured me the actual uni course is better). Personally i don't mind it and find the material interesting enough to not bother me. (the units are sleep and dreams (imo the worst one) conformity and obedience and my optional topic aggression (to clarify you dont get to choose ur option topic the teacher decides it)). Ask what youre optional topic will be and go look at bbc bitesize or the sqa website for course content

I actually really don't know why so many people failed the prelim, my grade was about what i expected. I think they struggled with the structure and had a lack of motivation to study but i honestly dont know icl.

Some university courses require an advanced higher, I’m taking from your subject choices you want to do a humanities course, so it may not matter too much, but just go have a browse and see. - For Glasgow, they require you sit either advanced English or another humanities subject if you want to apply for Law, but it just depends what you choose to study.

Higher business is really similar to N5, which you haven’t done, but I’d say if you’ve done other highers and passed, you’ll cope well with business; it’s easy.

For a 4th, instead of an advanced, maybe sociology? I’m doing it at Higher, it’s pretty simple to grasp, especially if you’ve done mods, but I’m aware your school might not have it available since it’s a bit niche for SQA.
