I have a crush on my teacher and it's a problem

Hello, so I've had a crush on my teacher for a while now (every since year 12) and today I found out he had a girlfriend.

To be honest I'm not overly upset or anything, I mean everyone has someone in their lives and good on him I guess. However, I had been flirting with him for a while but in a very subtle sense and he had been not shooting it down but to some extent he did also do it back. Maybe I'm overthinking it but after teasing him or making a joke at his expense, he would usually just maintain eye contact with me for 20 seconds or more and would just smile but with a look of "I know what you're doing" kind of face. And just the general, him checking in on me or something. But I will be honest and I'm not defending him, he has never done or said anything weird.
Anyways today I he said that he had a gf, and to be honest it stung a little but I played it off as if it was nothing and still continued with my work.
I'm gonna take a step back because I want o respect his boundaries and especially his partner but idk why this stings so much. It's not like I'm obsessed with him and that ill never get over him it's just confusing why he didn't shut me down when it was quite obvious to him that I was flirting.

Everyone will have an innate response to mix gender and it does come in every one’s life. It’s inevitable. The best thing you can do is suck it and focus on those exams everything else is a distraction !!

He has his career to think about. It is not worth him even been tempted with you (I know that is hard for you to hear). I’m a mature student and in the 90s we had a young male teacher he ended up having a relationship with senior who left school then they lived together, they split. He then had another relationship/fling with a senior girl and tried it in on with me on a school trip abroad he was young, fit and sexy. Eventually, he was reported (not sure why it took several years but it did), he then went off sick with stress came back to work went off with stress and it ruined his career and he never did find someone to settle down with his reputation was ruined. Things are much more strict these days with all the grooming claims so be really needs to be careful. You will find the right person in time.
