This is quite subjective and depends on how much time you have, if a job would fit around your course and what jobs are available. Have you weighed up your situation and/or tried approaching places to see if they are hiring?

Look on websites such as indeed.com
Some companies, (such as mdconalds tesco etc) have their vacancies on the jobs section of their websites.
Some places (especially cafes, restaurants etc) sometimes have signs up in the windows advertising jobs so they ae worth keeping a look out for.

Hiya!

It's great to hear you're looking for a part-time job. Finding one that you enjoy, that’s well paid, and that understands you're a student with limited availability can be difficult sometimes.

Have you got in contact with your Career’s Team at the university? By speaking to the career's team, they can inform you on any jobs within the university and possibly what's available in the area. Plus the Careers team usually have services such as interview practice, CV writing and more! In addition, the jobs advertised with the university should understand the prior commitments you have as a student (e.g. attending lectures, reading weeks, additional readings etc.)

For example, at De Montfort University we have Student Ambassador jobs (which is one of my part time jobs) and this role is incredibly flexible, optional and enjoyable as I have had some incredible opportunities presented to me through this role. These ambassador shift can be on weekends, evenings and in the day. This is what I would highly recommend if your university offers something like this and in my opinion I think it is very well-paid! Unitemps is a great website - they are university owned and operate from numerous universities across the UK; (being an ambassador at DMU is through this company) perhaps you can see if Unitemps have a branch at your university 😃

Besides Unitemps, I would also recommend to continue looking at Indeed perhaps try Linkedin and Google. I would also recommend, for you to follow a few local business on their social media - as sometimes they may advertise a job on here.If you’ve recently moved to a new city or town, it might be worth walking around with copies of your CV just in case you spot any “help wanted” signs and by being prepared with printed copies of your CV, it could save you a job and potentially speed things along. Perhaps you could even ask to leave one with them in case future opportunities arise. It can feel a bit intimidating, but the worst they can say is no, and I’m sure they’ve been in a similar position before! 🙂

You can always ask around too, see what other students do for work and perhaps they are aware of any vacancies.

I hope this might provide some useful advice / inspiration

Hi,

I hope you're well.

It's great that you're looking for a part-time job.

I would suggest booking an appointment with the Career zone so they can support you in finding a job that suits you.

You could also try looking on the Career zone's job search board. I would recommend applying to roles within the university as they provide flexibility so you can balance your study and work life easier. I also find that the response is quicker when it's within the university. That's how I got this job.

Another option is attending the job fairs hosted by the university. It's a great opportunity to speak to employers in person and advertise yourself.
