RAF PTI recruitment

Hi, so I’m planning to apply as a PTI in the RAF. I’m currently studying a sport science and coach degree which I’ve been told by others will give me an advantage when applying. However, I’ve also been told that playing a sport would help but due to Covid restrictions throughout my time at college and in my community, the last time I played sports competitively was in school and so for the past couple years I’ve focused on gym work and my personal fitness. Will this affect my chances when applying?
Thanks.

Hi, i have applied for the role of a PTI and have my last vetting assessment tomorrow. I am also studying a sports science course at collage. Playing a sport would be an advantage as you are applying for the role as a PTI however dont think is necessary. Doing gym work is just as important as the success criteria in the vetting assessment is physically demanding. Best advice I can give is to practice swimming, push ups and pull ups.

That’s why I put more dedication to gym work as I thought that may look just as good, and that includes swimming as well as I know that’s something that can be the difference between a pass/fail.
Do you think there’s anything else I could do to make my chances even better?

Get some coaching experince as this will look good in the selection interview. Other than that just keep up with the swimming and gym work and you should be fine. I am 16 so have had limited chance to coach but i have tried to get as much experience I can. Hoping this wont let me down
