Study Nursing Again

I have already studied an Adult Nursing Degree BSc at Staffordshire University although I failed my second year, I had to retake this year and then failed again meaning I used up 3 years of funding. I got given a HNC level 4 qualification. Was not able to continue the course. I want to study adult nursing again at a different university starting at year 1, at university of Worcester, would I get able to get funding for tuition and maintenance loans as nursing is an exception course?

Hi there,

Repeat study on NHS courses are treated the same as normal courses which means if you're studying the same course, we'll look at your previous study to determine your eligibility for tuition fees for the new course. I've enclosed further information below

So if I was to study nursing again starting from year 1 would this not be paid for by student finance? I thought nhs exception courses would exempt previous study rules?

Hi there,

Are you registered in this field? When would the new course start?

Thanks, Drew

Hi I'm not registered, I completed year 1 and got a HNC 120 credits level 4, I have to retake year 2 and then failed it again. So I've used up 3 years of funding. My retake year the tuition fees weren't applicable as I had compelling reasons. The new course would start Sep 2025.

Hi there,

As you are not registered in the field and are starting a new course at a new university then the course would be classed as an exception course. You would be eligible for the funding.

Thanks, Drew
