AGQ CDT (Algebra, Geometry, and Quantum Fields CDT) 2025

Hi, was just wondering if anyone applied to the AGQ CDT this year and has heard back about it? Website said interviews would be early February but haven't received any communications.

As far as I know, some students already received the interview invitation. Maybe they are sending invitations gradually.

I think they are sending invitations gradually, and also it will depend on which institute the academics are from. Personally I had an interview on the 5th with academics from Glasgow, and then another on the 10th with academics from Edinburgh. I then recieved an offer from Glasgow on Friday.

I did get the impression though that it was sort of up to the academics when they do interviews, and i think there will be multiple rounds of interviews and offers sent out.

I knew someone had interview on the 5th with people from Glasgow, and I had an interview on 10th with people from Edinburgh too. With your data maybe we can conclude that 5th for Glasgow and 10th for Edinburgh is the first round.

Ah okay I see! I'm asking on someone else's behalf so will hold fingers crossed that they get invited to a different round. Congrats on your offer!

Yeah there wasn't really any set date, i was actually given two possible interview times for the edinburgh one and asked which one worked best for me. And since the interviews are done by the academics who will potentially be your supervisor it completely depends on their schedule.

Also though, I did hear from the academics at Glasgow that they were planning on having a meeting the middle of the week to send out the first few offers (i.e around the 13th). It all seemed like it was a bit last minute, but since I was given an offer on Friday I have to assume that it did go ahead. So at least for Glasgow they've started sending out the first round of offers. There may still be more to come at the start of this coming week though.

Probably not same with you because they only give me one interview time.

Hi, may I ask if you have heard any updates from Edinburgh?

Are they still sending out interview invites, or has it already been decided? I haven't received any communication from them yet

One of my friends had their interview this Weds and was told results could take 2-3 weeks to came through. The best bet may be to email the supervisors you listed on your application form for more accurate information.

Do you happen to know to which program your friends applied to?

Hi, I also applied for the CDT, and wanted to ask, I have not been invited for an interview, but the applicant portal now shows a defer application option, even though it does not do anything at the moment. Anyone has a similar experience?

That's interesting, I take it you didn't apply for the 5 year program specifically?

Yeah I didn't but I applied to the mathematical physics panel however I have only studied maths before and they said my application was strong but I would benefit from some study in mathematical physics before the PhD. Didn't even know the pre year MSc was an option before haha
